As a blogger, most probably we all use Adsense on our blogs. After all, who would not want a passive income just by blogging.

Unfortunately, unlike some experts who make a killing from their Adsense earnings, not all of us are lucky enough to receive a regular payout from Adsense. As for me, it took me more than two years before I got my first payout. But I’m not complaining, it is just a passive income after all. Some of us are just luckier.

For us who are not quite expert or clueless about Adsense earnings, we are fortunate that every now and then, Adsense sends us tips through email, aside from their regular webinars.

Here, I would like to share the latest email I receive from Adsense on how to earn more from our search box.

Dear AdSense Publisher,

We’ve noticed that you are using the AdSense for search (AFS). Today we’d like to give you some tips to help you make the most of your AdSense for Search implementation!

You can improve you AFS implementation by following these tips:

Search box placement: Ensure users can see your search boxes! Try implementing a long search at the top centre or right of your page.

Two search boxes per page: For pages with a lot of content, we recommend placing two search boxes per page. Place one box near your site navigation and one below your content.

Integrate the search results within your website: Use an iFrame to host the search results on your site so users don’t leave your site when they perform a search.

Search box on search results page: Remember to place another search box on your search results page in case a user wants to perform a new search.

Ad placement: For better monetisation, we recommend choosing to place ads at the top and right of the search results for added visibility

Appearance customisation: Customise the search results with your site’s colors to match the look and feel of your site.

Many received the same email, I’m sure but not all have search box on their blogs. Maybe this would convince them to put the Adsense Search Box on their site and increase (hopefully) their Adsense earnings.
